After your Bowenwork session you can experience noticeable changes such as; reduced pain, greater range of motion, and a sense of relaxation and well being.
Here are some suggestions to help you get the most from your Bowenwork session.
The three W's of Bowenwork are WATER, WALK and WAIT.
WATER: It is recommended that you increase your water intake over the next few days. Bowenwork stimulates the body to begin healing and there can be a release of toxins such as cellular waste products and lactic acid, drinking extra water helps your body eliminate these waste products.
*It is recommended that we drink half our body weight of water in ounces, for example if you weight 200lbs you would want to drink 100 ounces of water each day.
WALK: Bowenwork clients are encouraged to get up and move/walk every half hour on the day of the session, you can walk around your house, down your hallway or take a gentle walk. Moving will help the body to align itself.
In general walking within your ability is encouraged, swing your arms, breathe and smile.
WAIT: Allow time for the session to work. Try and refrain from any other bodywork for 5-7 days. Bowenwork can take up to 10-13 days to be fully integrated. Be observant that the "Sweet Spot" for Bowenwork is usually days 3-4, this is where significant changes often take place.
Occasionally people experience a strong response to Bowenwork and symptoms will typically subside within 24-48 hours. Bowenwork will not cause harm but it can instigate a deep healing response physically and emotionally, otherwise known as a healing crisis. It is important to drink water, walk and wait during this time.
Do not apply ice or heat to an inflamed area. A warm Epsom salt bath can help reduce soreness. Some clients find that Traumeel Homeopathic ointment is very helpful for reducing pain and inflammation.
*Within the first 24 hours after receiving Bowenwork PLEASE TAKE IT EASY.
It's best NOT to lift weights or heavy things. save that for later and allow your session to integrate.
If you feel super energized after your session, I encourage you to be practical and allow your body to utilize this energy for healing, avoid repainting your house or taking an epic hike! On the flip side, if you feel fatigued please rest, take a nap and allow your body to heal.
